The Chancel Choir of Highland Park Presbyterian Church is a fixture of the Highlander Concert Series and is featured in several concerts each season. The choir also helps to lead the 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday worship services every week at HPPC. No audition is required to participate in the 120-member choir, but an ability to read music and match pitch, regular attendance at rehearsals and a desire to sing are expected. Choir members are also expected to participate in the church's 9:30 or 11 a.m. worship service (preferably both) on Sundays.

The Chancel Choir also plans tours and provides many opportunities for fellowship among its members. Most recently, the choir participated in the International Haydn Festival in Vienna, Austria, performing Haydn's Missa in Angustiis "Lord Nelson Mass" in July 2009 under the direction of Greg Hobbs. The choir also performed Brahms' Requiem in Carnegie Hall under the direction of John Rutter in May 2006 and was the featured concert choir at the Alleluia! church music conference at Baylor Univeristy in Waco, Texas, in July 2006, where they performed Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna and a program of sacred anthems.

Weekly rehearsals are held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in the choral rehearsal hall on the second floor of the Hunt Building on the HPPC campus. Child care is available with 48-hour notice.

If you would like to sing with the HPPC Chancel Choir, contact the church's Music Office at (214) 525-4218.
